Someone told me that the word ‘News’ was formed by the first letters of North East West South which I find rather interesting. I didn’t really think about it like that. Either way, whats new with me? I went to have dinner with Richard earlier on today, ended up walking the whole of London trying to find food at the end settled for some rather bad pizzas at Pizza express. It was rather disappointing I have to say.
There are 2 things I wanted to blog about actually. First of all, lets blog about Kogepan. Randy posted a video on my facebook wall in which I eventually watched all 10 episodes:
It is about a bread who was burnt – kogeru, to burn something – either way, I got quite addicted to it. It got me thinking about the message behind this animation. I guess we human like to blame others for our misfortune. Kogepan likes to blame his misfortune (being burnt) on the breadmaker. I wonder how many of us blame our misfortune on God and our genetic buildup. I guess we just all got to make the best of it, and be thankful that we have people around us to make us feel that we are not alone.
So, I showed this to Tim on Thursday. In turn, he showed me this animation:
What is your take on this animation? What do you think is the message behind it all?
We had a good discussion about it. The core idea was the theme of responsibility. How many of us watch other people’s misfortunes without doing anything to change it? The idea of using an old man and a child at the last scene shows the level of responsibility one generation has onto the next. Even though the old man seem to be benefiting from what was harmful, he had the wisdom to stop the next generation from falling into the trap. There are so many things in our current day and age we could apply this to – the banking system, global warming (linking to ideas such as oil-petrol companies) etc etc.
Sigh, I don’t have much energy to blog nowadays. However, these 2 videos are definitely worth blogging about. As Kogepan would say: Yaruki Ze-ro!
Oh yeah, and I think I will go back to Hong Kong next week. I really don’t know what to expect so I have 0 expectation.
