I just realised something as my parents glue themselves to Bloomberg TV and my brother going into banking and finance, mankind will always believe they are in control. For example, having done speech recognition before, we (humans) are able to model and predict anything using our mathematical models. Likewise, we are able to predict the stockmarket, earthquakes etc. The problem with knowledge is that without wisdom, we are unable to interpret the knowledge in any way to represent the truth. We spend so much of our energy and time in trying to predict and control the future that we are shocked and in awe when things like Japanese tsunami hits and we blame our scientists for having the wrong predictions. Lol…it’s almost like blaming the weatherman for bad weather! I am inclined to believe something else is in control, but humanists will always believe it is us who needs to be perfected. I guess we live in a world where existentialism and empiricism are the only perceivable truth. In Schlitz beer’s words,”You only go around once in this life, so you have to grab for all the gusto you can get.”
