Finally my 1 week home is over. I cannot really summarise it, but if I must I would say its quite short but definitely worth it. I spent most of my time here with my family but to be honest, they were all I wanted to see.
Definitely no regrets. Just need to find to right balance. I am confident I will be back in September to see my grandma again because her condition had stablised. Of course the trouble is, you can never really predict what will happen tomorrow. I definitely learnt that I have to be more patient with my family, and I think I have achieved that quite well this time around. I could’ve snapped in many places but I didn’t because perhaps I can finally see that it is important to stay calm and tolerate other people’s emotions and actions.
I have always wondered if it was the right decision to work in the UK. I supposed if I were working back here, it will be much easier. But I know that its what my family wanted for me, and I will do my best so that when I do decide to come back to HK, I will be higher up in the food chain (I mean, rank in the company).
I guess it can’t be that bad if I could be back in HK for a week when I need to be back here. Ah well, Monday will be another day at work.
I am now sitting in the mosque in Doha airport having nothing much to do for another 2 hours before my flight leaves for London Gatwick. Hopefully the flight won’t be too full so I can get some more sleep. My flight from HK to Doha was not all full, but it was full enough. I was sitting next to someone when I took off. Then the couple behind me decided to move to the 4 seats in the middle which is free on my row. Then the lady sitting on the 4 seat row took their seat behind me so I moved over to take the 4 seats where that women was originally. This resulted me in sleeping flat for my 8 hours flight. So effectively I paid for a cheap economy ticket and got something better than a business class seat
However, I am still very tired…Its now 9:40pm in London, 11:40pm in Doha and 4:40am in Hong Kong o_0
This week had been extremely exhausting for me and I think I have gotten a bit ill, seems like I am getting an upper respiratory tract infection, but with all these swine flu scares around, I hope I am not scaring anyone. They call it “Influenza A” here in Doha, they mentioned it is “also known as Swine flu”. I guess they don’t like to connect it too much to the pig in Muslim countries.
The airport in Doha is really small, much smaller than the KL airport and the Dubai airport. I supposed this is a regional airport which is not really meant for international travellers. It is more of a transit hub for Qatar Airways. They are very cheap and very good. Usually the 2 don’t come together. But so far I have no complaints. They are running a more conventional service, much like when I was young, when flying was considered an ‘experience’ for premium travellers. When you press the steward button, the steward actually comes and give you what you want, unlike Virgin Atlantic. I have given up on Virgin Atlantic having tried Emirates and Qatar. Although the flight is somewhat longer because of the route and the transit time, I really enjoy the flight much more. Although having said this, Singapore Airlines still remains my favorite airlines.
This mosque is a great hideout from the buzz outside actually. Maybe I will stay here for longer. The emptiness of the room with nice carpets just makes this place a great place to rest. Some people are lying down sleeping whilst others, like me, are playing with their computers. The guy opposite me finally got his 2 pin plug to fit into the 3 pin uk like plug by sticking a pencil into the earth pin. Of course, people come in and out to pray as most of us missed the congregational prayer at an earlier time. Oh well…
Arriving at 6:55am into Gatwick this morning. Then going to find a way to get to YGG’s house in London Bridge. I think they have a train to London Bridge which makes travelling there easier. But I think this will be the last time I will travel to Gatwick as Heathrow remains much more convenient. That is why next time back to HK I will be flying out of and into Heathrow.
I hope I won’t need to go back to HK before I intend to. Alright, I should head outside to get a drink before finding my gate. I feel like sleeping…
