a.k.a. (Young) Adult Third Culture Kids
I came across this term rather briefly while doing research for my thesis (I keep getting waylaid). Curious, I looked it up.
Wiki says:
TCKs share some common characteristics amongst the subcategories such as multilingualism, tolerance for other cultures, a never-ending feeling of homesickness for their adopted country and a [...]

When you cheat on your partner you add to the heartbreak, pain and jealousy in the atmosphere.
Cheatneutral offsets your cheating by funding someone else to be faithful and NOT cheat. This neutralises the pain and unhappy emotion and leaves you with a clear conscience.

Sceptics of carbon offsetting will appreciate this short spoof. How [...]

I had met with the Scouts county development officer last October and nothing had come of it since, for I had been busy with my studies. But now… I’m trying to get back into uniform once again, this time as a leader. So I’ll be the Section Assistant/Assistant CSL, and I had the chance to [...]

Looong time no bloggy…
We’ve started house-hunting. Almost a full month left before we’re booted outta this flat where we’ve lived for so long. At least, it’s where I’ve lived for the longest period of time while out of Singapore. Everything’s gonna be so messy so soon - where to move our stuff to, who’s [...]

Being the only two young girls - the only others around of our age were the PhotoSoc guys - in a hall of silver-haired old men does have its perks, especially when it comes to bargaining. Xi and I gave in to our photographic desires when we picked up near-vintage builds of various old cameras [...]

Went to Mid Wales (Elan Valley Reserve and Gigrin) yesterday. Weather was a constant flux of rain-sun-rain-rain-sun. Wales is quite the beautiful countryside, lush greenery and a joy to ride through.
Not really in the mood to blog and type coherent sentences right now; you can find more photos here. Zoto’s screwing up the thumbnailing. [...]

This is not quite the work of a band, and not quite the masterpiece of a choir either. But it’s a real gift from the heart. From all at QuGee, to all of our mothers. Something unique, for a change.
It took us a few days to get acquainted with the song, and we gathered [...]

A Willow Beauty (Peribatodes rhomboidaria). At least, that’s what I think it is. The brown Ennominae all look so similar!

The decision to go to the London Wetland Centre came about rather spontaneously in the late afternoon; by the time I got there, the ticketing counter’s lights were dimmed and they were about to close (the entrance)! Still managed to get a couple of shots though, mainly of ducks in flight:

It’s been horrid for photography these days, what with layers of cloud cover and a dampish weather to boot. Xi and I decided to put off our outing to Little Venice, and we’ve also postponed the pug-meet shoot.
Yesterday afternoon, the house went to Hyde Park for a little stroll. It’s hard to believe that [...]

While crossing the junction as I walked back home from the Museum, I saw this Caucasian man on a street corner, a map in hand, and a suitcase nearby. As I was about to pass him by, our eyes made contact, and he ventured to ask, in a hopeful tone, “Will you show me the [...]

I went to the Natural History Museum today after handing in my project proposal, and finally had my pass renewed. Talked with Sup. Mick about the collections database stuff - old news, old problems - and the new developments that would be coming up in summer. The thing with these old indexing systems and the [...]
